What types of jobs will the program train me for?
Jobs in landscape or "Green Industry", including; tree and lawn care, parks
and grounds maintenance, landscape construction, greenhouse operation, golf
course maintenance and property maintenance.
What topics does the training program cover?
How to identify, plant and maintain trees,
shrubs, turf and flowers; landscape design; pest
management; equipment maintenance; landscape construction
and job search skills.
When will the program begin and end?
The program begins in early January and lasts through the 1st of April.
When and where is program held?
The program is broken down into two parts:

The 12 week classroom period of the program is held Monday through
Friday, 9:00 - 2:00 p.m., at 16 Edmonds Street |

Some students may be required to serve on-the-job training. This 4-week "work experience" period of the program
is held Monday through Friday, 7:30-4:00 p.m. at local park sites, with area businesses, and on
program projects. |
What is the training like?
The 12-week period consists primarily of classroom instruction,
with field trips and hands-on demonstrations. The 4-week period
provides paid hands-on training at local project sites.
Will anyone help me get a job after the program?
Yes! The program includes job search workshops and
referrals to job openings. You may also use the program
in the future for job referrals and career counseling.
What does it cost to participate?
The class is tuition based. However there are scholarship opportunities for individuals who qualify. Please apply early in the fall to allow time for researching and applying to scholarship sources.
